Car Bomb Kills Seven at Coptic Church in Alexandria, Egypt
By Dan Wooding Founder of ASSIST Ministries ALEXANDRIA, EGYPT (ANS) – The BBC is reporting that a car bomb explosion outside a church in the north Egyptian city of Alexandria has killed seven people and injured 24, the interior ministry says. “The blast, apparently caused by a car bomb, hit people as they left a new year’s service at the al-Qidiseen church shortly after midnight,” said the BBC story. “Sectarian tensions have recently been on the rise in Egypt. “After the blast, angry Christians reportedly threw stones at police officers and targeted a nearby mosque. By Dan Wooding, Founder of ASSIST Ministries SHIMI, EGYPT (ANS) — Middle-East journalist, Mary Abdelmassih, is reporting that on Friday, August 13, 2010, Sheikh Tobah, an Imam from the Egyptian village of Shimi, 170 kilometers — 105 miles — south of Giza, called during Muslim Friday prayers for “Jihad” against Christians living there. “As a result the Christian Copts living in the village were assaulted over two consecutive days. Eleven Copts were hospitalized and many Coptic youths were arrested,” she said in a story for the Assyrian International News Agency (www.aina.org.) Persecution Still Escalating in Egypt

This provision is now common in Muslim constitutions, including the new constitutions of Afghanistan and Iraq. It forbids apostasy (leaving Islam) and eliminates fitna (anything that could even tempt a Muslim to leave Islam).
