ANDHRA PRADESH, INDIA (ANS) — A group of Hindu radicals demolished a church which was under construction.

The incident occurred on Aug. 17 in Uppal Hills in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.

The demolished facility was called “Jesus Prayer House Church.”

According to a story on www.persecution.in, about 20 Hindu radicals from Rashtriya Swayam Sevaks (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janatha Party entered the building currently used for worship, and yelled at Pastor David Raj for conducting services there. They then ran to the new building and destroyed it.

The story reported that the Hindus pushed the pastor to the ground, and ignored his plea to leave the new building alone. The story added that the alleged perpetrators claimed the place belonged to them, and the pastor couldn’t build the church.

According to the story, Raj filed a complaint at an area police station. An inspector later came to the scene of the incident, investigated what occurred and took pictures.

Raj’s congregation numbers about 60 people. They have been meeting in a school building for the last 12 years. The story said the pastor recently purchased from the school a land parcel of 130 square feet.
