MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA (ANS) – Around 11 masked men brutally attacked a pastor at around 1:30 pm on October 25 in Mastoori town, Madhya Pradesh state, India.
According to news reported on the website of the Global Council of Indian Christians (www.persecution.in), the Sunday worship service at Beersheba Church of God concluded at about midday on Sunday when a young man approached Pastor Pavithra Kumar (28) enquiring about a boy who was missing. The pastor replied that he knew no such person and the young man left.
The news source said that, after a few minutes, the young man returned with 10 masked men who came on six bicyles and brought the pastor out and then attacked him with wooden clubs, hockey sticks and their fists.
The website reported that, as the pastor tried to run back inside the church, a woman from the church got caught in the middle and she too got injured. But the pastor then managed to get inside a house and door was closed against the attackers. The men then threatened the pastor and the believers from outside the house and left the place.
It was known from the news site that, the pastor and believers went to the nearest police Station to file an complaint but the policeman in-charge refused to accept the complaint saying he had no knowledge of a church being run in that place.
After much persuasion, the police accepted the complaint and the police are now said to be investigating the matter and questioning the believers and Pastor Pavithra.
