Pastor Slapped, Threatened When Youth Disrupt Prayer Meeting
SOUTH ASIA (ANS) — Nikhil Sarin was physically abused and threatened when some local youth disrupted his prayer meeting on June 4.
The Gospel for Asia-supported pastor was leading a time of prayer with a family that recently chose to leave their traditional village faith and trust in Christ. The time of fellowship was abruptly cut short when a group of anti-Christian extremists started arguing with Nikhil and the family.
The extremists accused the pastor of forcing the people to convert to Christianity. Then one of the extremists slapped Nikhil and warned him not to share about Jesus in their area.
The extremists were all young people, which makes the attacks even more shocking. In their culture, the younger people generally treat anyone older than them with a certain amount of respect.
GFA’s correspondent requests prayer for this situation:
- Pray God will speak to the hearts of the people who attacked the pastor.
- Pray the people in this village and in another village where Nikhil ministers will embrace the redemption Christ offers.
- Pray for the Lord’s protection and grace upon Nikhil and his wife, Karuna, so they can be strong in their place of ministry in the midst of these difficulties.
