Operations that takes place during defence exercises helps us to get an idea of the war situations without any real war India carry out these exercises between the Indian Army and armies of various other countries. The countries participating in these exercises train themselves to the core for any war. What is the main purpose of these exercises? The main purpose for the defence or military exercises is to fight terrorism and to improve relations between countries When do these exercises take place? Usually these exercises goes on during the whole year Normally in a year, India takes part in around 8-10 defence exercises India took part in 15 defence exercises in 2017 Till now in 2018, India has taken part in 8 defence exercises Now let’s see some of the most important defence exercises that took place in 2017 Vajra Prahar It was formed between Indian and US miltary and the main purpose is for the Indian and US forces to have better co-ordination and to increase relations. Ajeya warrior was formed between India and UK and the main purpose for this collaboration was to remove the differences between the two armies and increase the relations between the two countries. Khanjar IV was formed between India and Krygyztan in which the special forces were given the training for montainous terrains. Yudh Abhyaas, this defence exercise was formed between India and US. During this collaboration they were given special training to fight terrorism. Now, some of the important defence exercises of 2018. Indra. Indra was formed between Indo-Russia armed forces in Russia. This was the first ever Tri-service ( Indian Army, Navy and Air Force) to have a joint exercise. Surya Kiran XIII, this was formed between India and Nepal armed forces in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. The main purpose of this exercise is to train against Jungle war and terrorism. Peace Mission. This defence exercise will be formed between India and Pakistan armed forces in Russia in August, 2018. During this defence exercise, the forces will be trained to fight terrorism and their networks through mock drills. RIMPAC. Is the world’s largest International War Practise. This is organized by US Navy forces. It helps countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK to maintain relations and to improve them. India, in this is an observer country.
