Kirkland TV: Currently Kirkland – #278 Kirkland Animal Services – Keeping our pets safe

my name is Jennifer Madison I am a
animal control officer for the city of Kirkland I am based out of the Kirkland
Police Department my role within the city is to educate the public about
animal related issues enforce our Kirkland Municipal Code from things from
leash law and pet waste to pet licensing to our dog bites one of my favorite
things that I love about my job is being out in the public communicating with our
residents and ultimately snuggling fluffy friends you are fantastic oh my
goodness here’s my card so you know who I am absolutely here is this treat for him
and that is a great toy because it’s you can put treats in the inside and it becomes an activity for him I love that yeah what do you think what do you think well thank you for keeping him on leash and then also having your scoop bag ready yeah for when that time does
happen yep hey buddy oh you are so cute are they wearing their pet licenses they are I
love it that’s mozi he’s on nine months and this
is Asha she’s six years Oh beautiful good girl
yeah good job I love it very good manners thank you for keeping them on leash and
having their pet license oh yes work that is huge enjoy the
sunshine nice meeting you bye you guys it is important to license your pet
because it provides them with a great insurance policy for if they get lost
having that license tag on them I can look in our pet data system where I can
look up the number and it will provide me with your address your name phone
number and it keeps detailed information about your pet
such as their microchip number and their rabies information as well it’s just a
great way for me to skip the shelter and bring the pets straight to you if we
have that tag in addition all the money that we get from pet licensing goes
directly back into Kirkland Animal Services and it helps us provide a top
quality care for our customers and our residents here in Kirkland so I have a
few things for you one for you so this is pet licensing information that we
have for the city of Kirkland and there’s an application in there so it
explains it and this is for her as well as this residents can license their pet
by going to pet data and doing it online or they can go to City Hall or the
Kirkland Police Department and do it in person just remember to bring your
rabies certificate or have it available when you are doing it online well thank
you for keeping her leashed in our parks yeah and it was nice to meet you me too have
fun you guys within the city of Kirkland we require that our dogs be on leash
when on public property and that includes our parks if you’re looking for
an off-leash area I recommend going to Jasper’s dog park which is right behind
the Kirkland Police Department I love that you have her on a leash and you’re
so strong it is important to leash your dog when you’re on public property for
their safety for your safety and then also for other people’s safety
you never can predict fully what a dog will do and being able to take that dog
in your control if anything was to happen is your best security in keeping
your dog safe what other things did she like to do well everything she like
to do is have doggy treats doggie treats are the best does she like to go to the
parks mm-hmm when she when she’s running and she likes to run do you like to run
with her ah ha yeah good job good job I love it yeah I love my job I love what I do
and I enjoy getting to know all of our fluffy friends here in Kirkland and the
residents and I hope to meet every single one of you don’t hesitate come by
and say hello if I’m out in the parks um I always have treats with me so I
would love to meet you guys
